The First Bitcoin Beat Lab & Music Studio

Building blocks for creating music and content on-chain. Unique PFPs with embedded sounds.

    About OB1

Ordinal Based 1's (OB1) is an innovative Bitcoin Ordinals project that uniquely combines 1/1 hand-drawn PFP (Profile Picture) art with an on-chain beat lab. Each distinct PFP within the collection features its own unique sound embedded directly within the inscription.

Launched as "the first Bitcoin beat lab and music studio," OB1 provides fundamental building blocks for artists and creators. It empowers users to generate music and audio content directly on the Bitcoin blockchain, leveraging the security and immutability of Ordinals while championing fair attribution and creator rights in the evolving digital landscape.

    The Technology

    Bitcoin Ordinals
    Recursive Inscriptions
    Audionals Protocol
    On-Chain Metadata (JSON)

OB1 leverages cutting-edge Bitcoin blockchain technology, particularly Ordinals and Recursive Inscriptions, to create its revolutionary on-chain music platform:

    • Bitcoin Ordinals: Utilizes ordinal theory to inscribe data onto individual satoshis. Each satoshi gets a unique serial number, enabling tracking and unique asset creation directly on Bitcoin's mainnet.
    • Recursive Inscriptions: Overcomes Bitcoin's block size limitations (approx. 4MB via Taproot) by allowing inscriptions to request content from other inscriptions. This enables complex, large-scale projects like OB1's beat lab by referencing pre-inscribed code or sounds, reducing costs significantly.
    • Audionals Protocol: Developed by OB1 team member Jim, this protocol standardizes music inscription. It converts audio to Base64, embeds it in indexable JSON files, and includes rich metadata (key, tempo, creator).
    • On-Chain Storage & Metadata: Unlike many NFTs storing assets off-chain, OB1 aims for maximum on-chain permanence. Audio data and metadata are inscribed within the witness data of Bitcoin transactions, inheriting Bitcoin's security and immutability.

This technological stack allows OB1 to function as a decentralized, verifiable, and permanent music creation toolkit directly on the Bitcoin blockchain.

    Music Lab

The OB1 Beat Lab is the core of the project – a functional, on-chain music creation environment built on Bitcoin. Each unique PFP NFT in the OB1 collection contains an embedded sound sample, forming a decentralized library of musical building blocks.

Leveraging the power of Recursive Inscriptions and the Audionals protocol, musicians and creators can access these sounds. The platform allows combining, layering, and sequencing these on-chain samples to produce new musical compositions. This process ensures that attribution is immutably recorded on the blockchain, paving the way for new models of collaborative music creation and fair royalty distribution.
