About the Collection

AudioGNARLS is a collection of 256 seed-driven BVST synth entities. Each is uniquely identified by a number from 0 to 255, a direct homage to the 8-bit universe that MIDI inhabits.

The collection is also a nod to the iconic SH-101 synthesizer, a classic instrument whose sonic character influenced the AudioGNARLS sound engine. This project bridges the legacy of beloved hardware with the future of on-chain music.

Together, these influences are encoded into the identity of each piece. The full inscription name for every Gnarl ends with b101i# followed by its unique number. The 'b' stands for blockchain, marking this as the first Blockchain hosted VST (Virtual Studio Tool) instrument designed for the new on-chain music environment of the future. The '101' is a tribute to the SH-101, culminating in a series that spans the complete MIDI range from b101i#0 to b101i#255.

Each of the 256 Gnarls generates:

Unique oscilloscope artwork

Procedural visuals paired 1:1 with sound.

Bank of 18 deterministic presets

Modern patches — oscillators, filters, envelopes, modulation.

Reproducible audio signature

A call sign that’s always the same from the same seed.

From Collectible to Instrument

Import any Gnarl

Load any Gnarl’s sound bank into the AudioGnarl Synth's interface in the Audionaut Sequencer (coming soon).

Load by Ordinal ID

Use the Ordinal ID of your favourite Gnarl to load its exact 18 presets.

Credited on creation

Tracks produced with those presets will credit the Gnarl’s owner.

Why It Matters

This is more than a drop. It’s the foundation of the Audionals protocol — a blockchain-native digital audio workstation (DAW) where:

  • Presets are provably unique and ownable.
  • Rights and recognition are embedded directly into sound design.
  • Art, code, and music converge into a living ecosystem.
